Background and Discussion:

The Jail Diversion Grant is administered by the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD.  The Sheriff’s Office helps to provide the required match through contributions related to the 24-bed jail diversion pod, JPC property valuation, and the costs of personnel assigned to certain mental health-related tasks.

Expected Impact:

The contributions from the Sheriff help to meet the grant’s match requirements.

Alternative Options:

Not providing these contributions would make it difficult for Harris County to meet the grant’s match requirements.
