Background and Discussion:
HUD released a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Fiscal Year 2022 Continuum of Care Program Competition on August 1, 2022. For the Houston/Harris County Continuum of Care (The Way Home Continuum of Care or "CoC"), the collaborative applicant is the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County (Coalition), the CoC lead agency. Ranking and application submission are completed through approval of the Continuum of Care Steering Committee.

The Continuum of Care Program funds are used to provide rental assistance to people experiencing homelessness with serious mental illness, chronic problems with alcohol or drugs, or HIV/AIDS. The goal is to lead people experiencing homelessness toward economic self-sufficiency and independence. In addition, this program provides funds for eligible people experiencing homelessness with severe disabilities.
