Background and Discussion:

Construction of Asphalt Pavement, Concrete Pavement, Sidewalks, Trails and Related items includes total construction and reconstruction of paving subgrade, concrete and asphaltic concrete pavements for sidewalks, trails and driveways throughout various locations in Precinct 4.

Expected Impact:

Reconstructing these roadways, sidewalks and trails will improve pavement conditions, thereby improving mobility and safety for all roadway and path users. This purchase order will allow the firm to conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and various other construction materials. This testing will ensure the material’s compliance with Harris County Engineering and other governing bodies specifications as required by state law.

Alternative Options:

Construction materials testing is required by state law. Thus, alternatives include executing an agreement for similar services to a different vendor or cancelling this construction project.

Alignment with Goal(s):

_ Justice and Safety

_ Economic Opportunity

_ Housing

_ Public Health

X Transportation

_ Flooding
