Background and Discussion:

The Cimarron Secs 2, 3, 4, and 5 Subdivision Drainage Improvements Project is located west of Harris County in the Barker Reservoir. The Cimarron Subdivision consist of concrete curb and gutter with inlets and storm sewer drainage system which out falls into HCFCD T101-07-00. After further evaluation of the planning phase study report, the project proposed improvements and scope is to upsize the storm sewer system and adding additional inlets to provide better conveyance and drainage capacity. Construction of these improvements to be performed by R Construction Civil, LLC, ensures that that the project is built in accordance with Harris County and Harris County Flood Control regulations.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This award is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Cimarron subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Fund, Special Mobility Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future. No impact to project schedule or staffing anticipated.

Alternative Options:

No alternative option for this project is possible other than performing no additional work. However, in this area, the subdivision will continue to be a risk of flooding and structural damage to homes in the community.
