Background and Discussion:
The timeline for setting the 2022 tax rates would be significantly compressed if the Court intends to propose a rate above the Voter Approval Rate (VAR). To set a rate above the VAR, Commissioners Court would need to propose a rate for adoption no later than August 5, 2022 to meet hearing and election notification requirements. OMB will not be recommending tax rates above the VAR and is seeking confirmation from the Court that it does not intend to propose rates that would require an election and that there is no need to set a special hearing on August 5, 2022.
