Background and Discussion:
Project includes Rebuild traffic signals at Aldine Westfield at E. Louetta Rd., Aldine Westfield at Hirschfield Rd., and West Little York at Gessner Rd. Change includes reconciliation of actual quantities used in construction with the estimated quantities included for bidding purposes (major reduced items include extra quantities of fiber optic cable and conduit not required to complete the project). Change also includes a new item and an additional 20 days for hydro-excavation required to locate existing utilities in potential conflict with the proposed signal foundations and new items for audible push button assemblies.
Expected Impact:
Change allows for a non-destructive means to identify the locations of existing underground utilities and the substitution of audible push-button assemblies to accommodate the newly adopted pedestrian facility requirements.
Alternative Options:
Eliminate the facilities in potential conflict with utilities from the scope of the project and maintain the original push-button assemblies included with the project.
