Background and Discussion:

In efforts to continuously improve standard processes for project budgeting, this effort would enhance current

estimating procedures using Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering Institute (AACEi) recommended practices, starting with conceptual planning of projects, carrying through to project implementation, and finish with the determination of expected maintenance costs associated with project completion.

Expected Impact:

Expected outcome of the work product would be enhanced standards of estimating processes, training of

District personnel, and documentation and forms to facilitate the enhanced estimating process across all

District divisions through software platforms.  Additionally, this enhanced process would be a basis of an effort

to redefine estimates of District projects for a better forecast of schedule and costs.

Alternative Options:

The alternative would be to select another firm for this assignment which would result in a delay in starting

this project.
