Background and Discussion:

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is launching a capacity-building project to advance the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards in Texas. This endeavor requires a new Program Standards Coordinator position to manage collaborative projects and support the HCPH Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards project lead. The Capacity Building collaborative project will work to improve risk factor data accessibility through technology and develop a network of jurisdictions to support the advancement of the Standards.

Expected Impact:

This focus will be achieved through the creation of a workgroup for jurisdictions to support work on the Standards; the enhancement of inspection software based on the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards for partner jurisdictions to use; and the development of a report to share inspection and risk factor data with the FDA from all partner jurisdictions using the developed software.
