Background and Discussion:

The project is located west of Harris County in the Barker Reservoir watershed. The Memorial Parkway Subdivision consist of concrete curb and gutter with inlets and storm sewer drainage system which out falls into HCFCD T103-00-00. After further evaluation of the planning phase study report, the project scope is to upsize the storm sewer system and adding additional inlets to provide better conveyance and drainage capacity. The amendment incorporates the additional drainage modeling and design services required to mitigate for the drainage improvements.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This amendment is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Riata Ranch and Barker Lake subdivisions homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future. No impact to project schedule or staffing anticipated.
