Request for approval of an agreement with the Harris County Flood Control District for the Smith Road Channel Diversion Drainage Improvements Project in the amount of $6,657,802 utilizing 2017 Harvey CDBG-DR Round One Funds.
end
Background and Discussion:
Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) proposed to construct 84" reinforced concrete storm sewer along Smith Road from HCFCD Unit P133-00-00 southward, thence eastward along HCFCD Unit P133-06-00 and the existing Dory Lee Street right-of-way, and back into HCFCD Unit P133-00-00. The storm sewer will be constructed along the west side of Smith Road to avoid existing natural gas line utilities on the east side of the road. This shall benefit 10,791 persons with drainage improvements. Of these persons, 8,126 persons, or 75.30%, are low- to moderate-income.
Expected Impact:
To improve regional drainage and reduce structural and street flood level, reducing the vulnerability of residential structures from future flooding events. The amount of 2017 Harvey CDBG-DR Round One Funds utilized for construction costs only of this project totals $6,657,802. This number is the amount that HCFCD received for the project and is the relevant cost for the agreement. All funds mentioned are 2017 Harvey CDBG-DR Round One funds.
