Background and Discussion:

The grant project focuses on prevention and surveillance strategies, whereby surveillance data related to mortality, clinical, and related data will be linked to support prevention activities centered around care, education, and coalition-building. The budget provides funds for substance use prevention evaluation provided by University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) as part of a 3-year project. UTHealth agrees to evaluate regional opioid overdose reduction efforts by assigning J. Michael Wilkerson, PhD, MPH, an Assistant Professor in Health Promotion and Behavior Sciences, to oversee program evaluation activities hereunder and to perform these services for Harris County Public Health.

 

Expected Impact:

Prevention and surveillance strategies, whereby surveillance data related to mortality, clinical, and related data will be linked to support prevention activities centered around care, education, and coalition-building. Evaluation of regional opioid overdose reduction efforts.
