Background and Discussion:

This project is located in northwest Harris County in the Cypress Creek watershed.  Tower Oaks consists of roadside ditches throughout the neighborhood that eventually drain into E132-00-00 and E132-02-00 channels. The planning phase consists of evaluating the existing conditions of the neighborhood and perform analysis on multiple recommendations that create the best benefit for the neighborhood. The drainage issues, proposed level of service, and proposed improvements will be identified as part of the scope of this project. The additional scope of services outlined in this amendment includes additional analysis and modeling will be performed for the coordination between this project and surrounding Subdivision Drainage Improvements projects for mitigation and to maximize the level of service.

Expected Impact:

Once the final engineering design and ultimate construction is completed, this project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This modification is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Tower Oaks subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. No staffing impacts expected with the fiscal impact for this project coming from Precinct 3 funding for this Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision project with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.
