Background and Discussion:

The project is located in northwest Harris County, north of Cypress North Houston Road and east of North Eldridge Parkway. The existing drainage system consists of roadside ditches which outfall to the west of the subdivision via 24 to 36-inch pipes at three points along HCFCD Channel K161-00-00. The scope and proposed improvements include upsizing the three outfalls along K161-00-00, which will require three temporary construction easements (TCE’s).

Expected Impact:

The project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. Acquiring the TCE’s is a step in the process that will reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Tower Oaks Plaza subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. No staffing impacts expected.
