Background and Discussion:
Construction project is located in northwest Harris County in the Cypress Place neighborhood. Project has completed construction with Salem Group, Inc. This water line was not identified on drawings and had to be re-routed out of the way of large junction box and required a boring subcontractor. Change order will cover the costs the contractor incurred to re-route the existing water line around the new junction box.
Expected Impact:
The Emerald Forest Subdivisions (Cypress Place) Drainage Improvement project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This modification is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Cypress Place subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. No staffing impacts expected with the fiscal impact for this project coming from both CSD (289) grant funding and the 1080 Fund, Special Mobility Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.
Alternative Options:
No alternative was feasible as the solution provided was necessary to resolve the conflict. Water line adjustment was required.
