title
Request for approval of a renewal option with Accudata Systems Inc. for additional software licenses and related items for the Rapid7 vulnerability management system for Universal Services - Technology through October 31, 2022 at a cost of $194,929 (180318).

Background and Discussion:
Job 18/0318 was awarded for additional software licenses and related items for the Rapid7 vulnerability management system for Harris County Universal Services-Technology on November 13, 2018. Vulnerability management is the process of identifying, evaluating, treating, and reporting on security vulnerabilities in systems and the software that runs on them. This, implemented alongside with other security tactics, is vital for organizations to prioritize possible threats and minimizing their "attack surface." This is the third of four one-year renewal options.
Expected Impact:
Renewal of this contract will allow the awarded supplier of this contract to continue providing support for the additional licenses and related items for the Rapid7 vulnerability management system for current and future projects with the same level of quality of service already being provided. The Rapid7 Insight cloud collects data from across our environment, making it easy for teams to manage vulnerabilities, monitor for malicious behavior, investigate, and shut down attacks, and automate our operations.
Alternative Options:
Alternative option would be to not approve this renewal year which would impact current and future Rapid7 Vulnerability Management services provided under this contract. Not having a vulnerability management plan can ensure that we're not addressing the highest-risk vulnerabilities. Vulnerability management gives us a process and the tools to regularly identify and remediate our most critical and high-risk vulnerabilities.
