Background and Discussion:
Harris County has an existing contract to replace static school zone signs with school zone flasher assemblies at various locations, however, the original estimated quantity is significantly less than what is anticipated to be installed in FY21-22, and therefore, a second contract is needed.
Expected Impact:
To have an on-call contractor readily available to supply and install school zone flashers on an as needed basis.
Alternative Options:
Installation of school zone flashers will enhance visibility of school zones, however, existing static signs can remain in place. Another alternative option is to bid packages separately for installation of school zone flashers. This process will add 6-9 months to the schedule.
