Request for approval to execute an amendment to an agreement with CivilTech Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $49,220.00 for Professional Engineering Services to provide Drainage improvements to Hearthstone and Fairway West Subdivisions, UPIN 20090MF1EA01, Precinct 4.

Background and Discussion:

This project is located in Addicks Reservoir watershed in Northwest Houston, approximately half a mile east on FM 529 from the intersection of the Highway 6 and Spencer Road (FM 529). The scope and proposed improvements include upsizing the storm sewers, upgrade and upsize of inlets, upsize outfall and have an extreme event overflow swale towards the channel. This amendment is to account for the added study and design scope that was identified after further drainage analysis that expanded the project improvement area (survey, SUE, and geotechnical effort).

Expected Impact:

By adding to the existing contract, this project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This modification is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Hearthstone and Fairway West subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. No staffing impacts expected with the fiscal impact for this project coming from the 1080 Fund, Special Mobility Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.
