Background and Discussion:
The Cimarron Secs 2, 3, 4, and 5 Subdivision Drainage Improvements Project is located west of Harris County in the Barker Reservoir. The Cimarron Subdivision consist of concrete curb and gutter with inlets and storm sewer drainage system which out falls into HCFCD T101-07-00. After further evaluation of the planning phase study report, the project scope is to upsize the storm sewer system and adding additional inlets to provide better conveyance and drainage capacity. The Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 81 and Cornerstones Municipal Utility District benefit from the drainage improvements of the project and agreed to join in joint partnership to help fund 50% of the project and construction cost.
Expected Impact:
The interlocal agreement between Harris County, Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 81, and Cornerstones Municipal Utility District will help share project and construction cost for Cimarron Sec 2,3,4 and 5 Subdivision Drainage Improvement. This project is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Cimarron subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Fund, Special Mobility Funding for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future.
