Background and Discussion:
Budget review has provided insight of growth up to 150% of new caseloads over the past 10 years. The Probate Court staff has remained the same through this growth. The court desperately needs another employee and a bilingual employee to meet the very growing population of non-English speaking residents to Harris County.
Per discussion with BMD, the court will pay 50% of budget from Judicial Support Fund for one year and the remainder 50% will be paid from the General Fund of Probate Court 4 for one year. Thereafter, 100% will be paid through General Fund Budget.
Expected Impact:
Current fiscal year through October 22, 2021, General Fund will be impacted by 50% of the salary and the remainder 50% will come from the Probate Court Judicial Maintenance Fund.
