Background and Discussion:
This grant is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (HHS). The Refugee Cash and Medical Assistance program reimburses states for the cost medical assistance provided to refugees. U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) administers the program for HHS. USCRI is an international advocacy and domestic refugee resettlement organization, headquartered in Washington, DC.

Expected Impact:
USCRI was established "To address the needs and rights of persons in forced or voluntary migration worldwide by advancing fair and humane public policy, facilitating and providing direct professional services, and promoting the full participation of migrants in community life. Public Health Services estimates that this grant will provide services for 5,000 refugees.

Alternative Options:
Due to the amount of health services needed by the refugee population, the limited resources they possess and their immigration status at the time of entry, limited resources exist as alternative options.
