Background and Discussion:
Presiding and Alternate judges are approved for one year terms per the State of Texas Election Code. Political parties and the Office of the Elections Administrator provide nominees and County Commissioners have authority to approve or remove.
Expected Impact:
The Office of Elections has already received approval to pay Presiding Judges through its General Fund budget allocation for FY22. The Commissioner for each Precinct must approve nominees.
