Background and Discussion:
HCSO submitted a joint application with the City of Houston to the U.S. Department of Justice for the FY 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). It is required that the Certification and Assurances form be submitted after review by the local governing body.
Expected Impact:
Grant funds will be used by the Sheriff’s Office to purchase necessary equipment and to fund overtime costs for specialized units. The Constables will receive 25% of the grant amount for laptops, computers, tasers, and portable AFIS devices
