Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 2 will enter into a partnership with the City of Houston and Buffalo Bayou Partnership to design, construct and maintain a pedestrian/bicycle trail providing recreational opportunities for the public. The project is contingent on funding provided by Texas Parks and Wildlife. The agreement has already been partially executed by the City of Houston. The primary purpose of the agreement is to create a mechanism for Houston to contribute funding toward building demolition, environmental remediation and site restoration associated with Harris County’s construction of the trail. Commissioners’ Court previously approved a request, June 30, 2020, from Precinct 2 to submit an application for this grant.

Expected Impact:

The project will provide recreational opportunities to East End neighborhoods as part of the Buffalo Bayou East Master Plan and creates connectivity between the parks.
