Background and Discussion:

Harris County Engineering Department currently has three traffic engineering on-calls that are utilized for a variety of services, which include but not limited to traffic signal design, traffic control plans, traffic studies, etc. The demand for traffic engineering related services has increased over the past couple years and the addition of another on-call professional traffic engineering services contract will these requests in a timely and more efficient manner.

Expected Impact:

Having a traffic engineering on-call contract will allow for traffic designs and traffic studies to be completed quicker and more efficiently.

Alternative Options:

Traffic signal designs, traffic studies, traffic control plans, etc. are required to be signed and sealed by a licensed professional engineer. An alternative to establishing an on-call contract is to individually authorize and place projects on the court agenda, which may delay the project.
