Background and Discussion:

This project is located in west Harris County, north of Clay Road and south of For Reasons Park. Roland Road drains by roadside ditches throughout the are, including along nearby streets such as Katy Hockley Cut Off Road and Clay Road. The Roland Road ditches drain south and utility the Clay Road ditch as their outfall into HCFCD Unit No, U101-09-00. The scope and proposed improvements include extending the HCFCD channel U201-09-00, regrading roadside ditches, underground storm sewer network, and reconstruction of roadway to comply with Harris County standards.

Expected Impact:

In implementing the proposed drainage improvements, this project seeks to reduce structural flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to the homes in the adjacent community. The new roadway will also improve mobility and safety for all road users. This will reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact costs to the homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA.
