Background and Discussion:
The non-owned auto insurance is an optional coverage program that serves as the primary liability coverage for enrolled Harris County employees should they be involved in an at-fault auto accident while not in course and scope of employment when operating a Harris County controlled vehicle. There are 1,117 Harris County employees currently enrolled in the program. The policy has come up for renewal, and the monthly premium is increasing from $32.84 to $41 and will be reflected on the May 28, 2021 paycheck.
Fiscal Impact:
There is no direct fiscal impact to Harris County since the County only facilitates the purchase of the non-owned auto coverage via a payroll deduction.
