Background and Discussion:

As part of the Greens Bayou Mid-Reach Study, construction of the Lauder Stormwater Detention Basin (SWDB) will provide flood reduction for 10-year storm events and mitigation for channel improvements along Greens Bayou. The goal of Phase II is to provide a minimum of 672-acre feet of detention volume.  The final design of Lauder SWDB Phase I was completed in January 2020, and construction started in July 2020. Once completed, the Lauder SWDB Phase 1 will provide 588 ac-ft of detention volume. Design of Phase II was started in December 2020 by Lockwood Andrews & Newnam, Inc.  Additional funds are in support of construction phase services, additional environmental work and revisions.  Current funding will allow for the construction of a portion of the south compartment with a target volume of 353-acre feet.

Fiscal Impact: Funding is covered under the NRCS grant for Technical Assistance.

Alternatives:

The alternative should this Amendment not be approved is that we could not provide support to final design phase of this project and we could lose grant funding from NRCS.
