Background and Discussion:
Harris County has been participating in the MacArthur Foundation Safety + Justice Challenge since 2016 and has received a total of $4.1 million used to develop jail population reduction strategies. This is the final round of funding that will be used primarily to expand community engagement strategies and to continue the racial and ethnic equity work.
