Request for approval to execute an Interlocal agreement with International Management District for the study, design, and construction of a 1.27-mile segment of sidewalk and safety improvements project along Bissonnet Street from Eldridge Parkway to South Dairy Ashford Road, UPIN 24104MF38T01, Precinct 4.

Background and Discussion:
This improvement project includes replacing existing sidewalk along both sides of Bissonnet Street within the project limits to new 6-foot-wide sidewalk with ADA compliant ramps; upgrading existing traffic signals at the intersections of Bissonnet Street with Synott Road and Beckford Drive from span wire to mast arm, providing new pavement marking, signing and striping to comply with the enhanced and latest safety standards. The project also includes installation of new streetlights to improve safety, operation, and mobility.
Expected Impact:
This project will improve safety, efficiency, mobility, and traffic operation for the pedestrians, motorist, and surrounding community by providing safer sidewalks and enhanced intersections within the project corridor.
Alternative Options:
If the approval is not granted the benefits associated with the project in terms of improvement in safety, efficiency and mobility will not be achieved. Harris County can seek to explore alternative options, however this will cause project delays.
