Background and Discussion:
The project includes reconstruction of Wallisville Road - from 965 feet west of Garth Road to 1,400 feet west of North Main Street. Reconstruction includes an upgrade of the roadway from a two-lane asphalt road with open ditches to a 4-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard with a 32' raised median.
This change in contracts includes:
* Adding bid item for installation of permanent Type 3 barricade - $2,135.00
* (3) TxDot Type 2 handrails $1,160.00/Each - $3,480.00
Expected Impact:
This change is to compensate the contractor for performing necessary work as it related to public safety regulations and prevent serious hazards.
Alternative Options:
There is no alternative for the Type 3 barricade as it was a missed bid item. Alternative for the Handrails could be installing higher curb, guardrail or barrier rail.
