Background and Discussion:
The purpose of this program is to prevent and control vaccine preventable diseases and promote age-appropriate vaccinations. Under this program, Harris County Public Health (HCPH) has the essential role of establishing partnerships and collaborations with public and private participants who share common vision of community wellbeing to improve the quality and longevity of people who live in Harris County communities and surrounding areas. This grant allows public health services to perform outreach and education activities to low income and uninsured populations. In addition, they are responsible to register, inform and educate the public on immunization registry of Texas, immunization schedules, importance of vaccines, and vaccine preventable diseases.

Expected Impact:
The change in funding source will allow the office of financial and support services and office of epidemiology, surveillance, and emerging diseases to continue to provide support for immunization and finance related activities in Harris County.
