Background and Discussion:
Harris County Commissioners Court recently passed agenda item 25-3328, granting The Harris County Constables and The Harris County Sheriff's Office pay parity with The Houston Police Department. As a result certain members of the department will be compensated at a higher rate than the elected Constable.
Expected Impact:
A discussion on elected Constable's Compensation, if so ordered by Commissioners Court, would allow for an analysis and recommendation to be made on this matter, to correct this inequality. Commissioners Court could then hold public hearings with the goal of properly compensating elected Constables in Harris County to take effect on October 1, 2025.
