Background and Discussion:
Harris County Public Health (HCPH) was awarded and received funding from CDC to develop strategic partnerships and policies to prevent childhood lead poisoning and other housing-related health hazards. The program maintains its focus on initiating primary prevention activities by partnering with organizations and stakeholders to provide lead presentations and participate in outreach events aimed at targeted and vulnerable populations. It also promotes secondary prevention efforts by enhancing lead testing through the education of public health professionals and pediatric healthcare providers on State Reporting forms.
