Background and Discussion:

The East Aldine Management District received a Texas Water Development Board Grant for design and construction of water and sanitary sewer projects in disadvantaged neighborhoods. The following four projects were completed: Sherwood and Benton Place Water Distribution and Sanitary Sewer System, Askins Lane and Cedar Hill Lane Water Distribution and Sanitary Sewer System, Lyncrest Water Distribution System, and Sanitary Sewer Extension Along US 59 and Hartwick Road.

These projects bring public water and sanitary sewer systems to areas where residents use septic systems and water wells. Many of the water wells are shallow and contamination prone, and many of the septic systems are failing, which can contaminate water wells, roadside ditches and public waterways.
