Purpose and Request: Equitable Sharing Agreement and Certification

Request by the Constable of Precinct 7 that the County Judge execute the certification report and agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Treasury for participation in the Equitable Sharing Program.

Background and Discussion:
This Federal Equitable Sharing Agreement, entered into among (1) the Federal Government, (2) the above-stated law enforcement agency (“Agency”), and the governing body, sets forth the requirements for participation in the Federal Equitable Sharing program and the restrictions upon the use of federally forfeited cash,property, proceeds, and any interest earned thereon, which are equitably shared with participating law enforcement agencies.
Fiscal Impact:
For future use should we have any revenue with the Federal Equitable Sharing Program.
