Background and Discussion:
Precinct 2 will construct Sheldon Road at Market Street intersection in Harris County to add raised medians for the east, west, and north approaches. The intersection improvements shall include signal upgrades and drainage mitigation. Precinct 2 will determine the appropriate improvement limits and type of drainage improvements, extent of the dedicated left turn lanes, and number and type of lanes for each approach based on the best cost to benefit and safety benefit to the traveling public and Precinct 2 will obtain the State’s approval of the design.
Expected Impact:
This agreement will allow the firm to conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and various other construction materials to ensure the material’s compliance with Harris County Engineering Department’s adopted standards and specifications as required by state law.
Alternative Options:
Construction materials testing is required by state law. Thus, alternatives include issuing a purchase order for similar services to a different vendor or cancelling this construction project.
