Background and Discussion:
Harris County Commissioners Court established the Hispanic Cultural Heritage Commission as an advisory board to Commissioners Court. The commission was tasked with assisting in identifying, preserving and promoting Hispanic Cultural Heritage across the county. This broadly includes events, landmarks, language and arts, history and sciences. The commission is composed of seven members, including five court-nominated and appointed members, and two commission-nominated members. Position 7 is one of the two positions nominated by the commission and approved by the court.
