Background and Discussion:

The “Let’s Have a Heart to Heart: Boots on the Ground, Hearts in Action” event will serve as a community-centered health, wellness, and scholarship fundraising celebration focused on heart health, connection, and service. This collaborative initiative-organized by the chapter’s Ways and Means Committee and Community Service/Physical and Mental Health Committee-aims to promote awareness, engagement, and empowerment through fun, interactive, and educational activities for all ages.

In recognition of American Heart Month, participants will be encouraged to “move for their hearts” through line dancing, an energetic and enjoyable way to promote cardiovascular wellness and physical activity. The event will also feature health education booths, blood pressure screenings, and opportunities for community connection.

Expected Impact:

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Delta Sigma Theta in support of scholarships for Royal and Hempstead ISDs.

Alternative Options:

If this request is not approved the organization will have to find a different venue to hold their event.
