Background and Discussion:

The Inwood Stormwater Detention Basin is a joint project between the Flood Control District and the City of

Houston to build 12 interconnecting storm water detention basins on the City of Houston property formerly known as the Inwood Forest Golf Course. This Agreement will allow CenterPoint Energy to relocate underground electrical conduits out of the footprint of the proposed stormwater detention basin. This project occurs in the 3rd quartile under the 2022 Prioritization Framework approved by Commissioners Court.

Expected Impact:

Once this agreement is approved, connections between the basins will be made, which will provide additional detention volume to provide flood mitigation and general flood damage reduction benefits to Harris County residents.

Alternative Options:

The alternative to approving this item would be not approving the agreement, which would result in prevent the Flood Control District from constructing the basin and providing flood risk reduction benefits in the area.
