Background and Discussion:
This change in contract is needed to complete Harris County Flood Control’s Michael Talbott Maintenance
Base Camp renovations. When complete, these renovations will provide office space and parking for VATRE funded field staff growth until new Base Camps are built. The scope of the original ERC Environmental & Construction Services, Inc. contract was renovating the Distribution Center. This change in contract adds to renovating the Facilities Maintenance (FMT) Building which is also located at the Michael Talbott Maintenance Base Camp. This contract change includes $253,568 and 90 days. The FMT Remodel builds a shared office space with 4 workstations, a break area that includes 3 work surfaces and 2-time entry stations.
Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract, which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
