Background and Discussion:
The purpose of this project is to lower water surface elevations within the Q134 subwatershed to reduce existing flooding issues. The Q134 watershed has a history of flooding, with recorded damages dating back to the 1970s and several significant flooding events within the last decade.
The construction of the Regional Stormwater Detention Basin (Phase 1) at Forest Green will provide immediate benefits by reducing water surface elevations and the resulting inundation area during high intensity rain events. This project sets the foundation for subsequent phases to expand the project into a regional detention basin and channel improvements with the ultimate goal of providing system capacity for the 100-year rainfall event.
