end
Background and Discussion:
Harris County Public Health (HCPH) aims to increase access to its Mobile Health Services and Programs among priority communities. To achieve this goal, HCPH will host four or more Wellness on Wheels events per fiscal year, one per precinct starting in FY2024. Harris County Public Health (HCPH) and The Rose will collaborate to bring preventive mammography services and breast cancer awareness education to Harris County community members through the HCPH Wellness on Wheels events. This collaboration focuses on delivering preventive screening mammography services and breast cancer prevention education directly to the community, emphasizing early detection and prevention.
Expected Impact:
Having The Rose offer mammography services at the Wellness on Wheels events will enhance accessibility to mammograms for community members who may encounter challenges in accessing healthcare services, thus ensuring that more individuals have the opportunity for early detection of breast cancer. By offering these services in collaboration with educational initiatives, the Wellness on Wheel Event will raise awareness about breast cancer and the significance of regular screenings, empowering community members to take charge of their health and see Harris County Public Health as a resource for wellbeing.
