Background and Discussion:
The original agreement with World Triathlon Corporation, approved by Commissioners Court on July 10, 2018, allowed the use of the southbound lanes of Hardy Toll Road for the bike portions of the Ironman Triathlon events in April 2019 and April 2020. In response to the COVID-19 emergency orders issued in 2020, the event scheduled for April 25, 2020 was canceled after receipt of payment by Harris County per the terms of the original agreement.
The Amendment will allow the previous payment made by World Triathlon Corporation for the 2020 cancelled event to be applied to the rescheduled event on October 9, 2021.
Expected Impact:
Closure of the southbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road between IH 45 N and IH 610 for the bike portion of the event to ensure the safety of the event participants.
