Background and Discussion:

This Interlocal Agreement will allow for a partnership with the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) and the City of Houston (COH) to advance the sand trap pilot project from the current conceptual-level effort to a preliminary engineering level of effort.

Expected Impact:

This agreement is a continuation of a successful partnership between the Flood Control District, the SJRA, and the COH to continue to explore the sand trap pilot project. If successful, sand traps could reduce sedimentation issues and may be a technology to implement in various locations around Harris County.

Alternative Options:

An alternative to approving this item would be to reconsider our partnership with SJRA and COH and pause our efforts to identify sand trap technologies aimed at reducing sedimentation issues.
