Background and Discussion:

The County advertised Pedestrian Sidewalks and Bridge Rail Improvements of Various Locations for Harris County project for bid and now seeks to award the construction contract based on the lowest and responsive bidder. The goal of constructing the subject project of combination of pedestrian rails and vehicle guard rails at 5 locations within PCT 3. West Lake Houston Pkwy (South of Pine Forest elementary), (south of Lonesome Woods), (South of Breakwater path), North Eldridge Parkway (North of Cypresswood Drive) and Birnamwood Drive (North of Cypresswood). Improvements to include reconstruction of sidewalk, washing and painting of new rails. Platinum Paving, LLC is qualified to perform these construction services.

 

Expected Impact:

This action will allow Platinum Paving, LLC to proceed with the construction of the project, therefore, the five bridge locations will be improved for pedestrians and will operate under better conditions.

 

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, the construction of the project will not be completed, and the five bridge locations will continue operating under existent conditions.
