Project Description - IT Systems Infrastructure Upgrades

Scope of Work

Estimated Amount

This project proposes the installation of secure network connectivity, structured data cabling, core informational systems, and the integration of fire safety systems, access controls, and surveillance infrastructure. These elements are designed to ensure compliance with regulatory safety standards and to support future departmental functions and operational requirements. The primary objectives are to ensure regulatory compliance with safety standards, reduce operational downtime, improve operational efficiency, and enhance system reliability upon facility occupancy.

Justification & Alternatives:

This infrastructure is essential to support a portion of Road and Bridge operations housed within the Aldine Gardens Camp facility. Daily operational functions rely heavily on reliable connectivity, including but not limited to work order management, asset tracking, service request response, data reporting, and interdepartmental communications. Establishing a robust connectivity systems foundation will ensure uninterrupted operational capability and sustained external stakeholder access. This foundational framework will provide the necessary support for all future operational requirements.

There are no viable alternatives; any delay in installation poses a significant risk of departmental operational disruptions and elevates potential safety hazards once the facility is occupied. Postponing implementation can undermine the reliability, security, and scalability of critical systems, ultimately resulting in inefficiencies, increased vulnerability, and operational downtime. Implementing this foundational framework is vital to ensure seamless, secure, and future-ready operations.
