Background and Discussion:
The location of the work is in the Fallbrook, Ridgepoint, and Westpoint Subdivisions in the Halls Bayou Watershed. The proposed improvements include installation of new storm sewer system, roadway paving, channel restoration and desilting.
The Change in contract request includes the following:
• PCO #7 - Drainage ditch P118-31-02 draining in to P118-31-00 - An addition of quantities to existing line items #31- 24-inch Reinforced concrete pipe by 48 liner feet, #47-Grade 1 Riprap by 122.2 square yards since the items overran the original commitment amount. Adding a new line for Remobilization and demobilization and temporary dirt dam and dewatering as per revised design plans. Additional quantities for above line items#31 and #47 and added 1 lumpsum for items #91-Remobilization and demobilization and 1 lumpsum for #92- Temporary dirt dam and dewatering are needed to complete the work as proposed in the revised design plans, for an additional cost of $24,742.00 and 3 days.
• PCO #8 - Construction safety fence - Adding new line item for Construction Safety Fence as per design plans for safety reasons during work progress in the project. Added 3000 linear feet at $4.70 per liner feet of new line item#93- Construction Safety Fence for an additional cost of $14,100.00 and 0 days.
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation
of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This modification is a step in the process to reduce the
financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial
impact of recovery costs to the Fallbrook, Ridgepoint and Westpoint subdivision homeowners, Harris County, and FEMA. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Fund, for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future. No impact to staffing anticipated.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be able to complete the original scope of work.
