Background and Discussion:

 

This project is for the construction of the Phase 2 Basin for the ultimate Kleb Woods Detention Basin.

 

This change order provides the following changes:

 

1.                     Final Adjustments to existing items totaling a sum of $174,982.70 for overruns of bid items during the course of construction.

2.                     Addition of 52 days for:

a.                     Time for Harris County Flood Control District to conduct their inspection and provide feedback to the contractor for final grade adjustments.

b.                     Time beyond the contractors control due to water being pumped into our work zone basin by an adjoining project being managed by Harris County Flood Control District.  The excessive water caused delays and weeks of pumping to get the water removed from the job site.

 

Expected Impact:

 

The approval of the final change order will allow for final payment of the contract and closing of the Purchase Order.

 

Alternative Options:

 

Failure to approve the Final Change Order could cause the County to be in default to a contractor and leave room for a possible suit against the county for work already performed.
