Background and Discussion:

The project is located in east Harris County, north of I-10.  The existing Garth Road configuration in the project area ( South of Sterling Summer Dr to Ashbel Cove Dr) is a 2-lane asphalt roadway with roadside ditches with a 2-lane bridge with no shoulder or sidewalk over the Coastal Water Authority raw water canal.  The goal of the project is to design and construct a standard 4-lane concrete boulevard with curb and gutter and to widen the canal crossing bridge to 4-lanes with pedestrian sidewalk.

Expected Impact:

The proposed project will increase the traffic capacity for the active development in this area, as well as improve driver safety at the intersection with FM 1942.  The project is funded by 2022 Bond funds.

Alternative Options:

Without this project, the new road improvements on Garth Road will not be realized as requested by Precinct
