Background and Discussion:

The intent of the basic services is to prepare study and drainage report documents for Arcadian Gardens Area Improvements project in Harris County, Texas, Precinct 3. The Arcadian Gardens area is an older subdivision with 18 feet to 20 feet wide roads and ditches along both sides of the roadway.  The existing right of way appears to be generally 60 feet in width.  The precinct would like to create a multi-phase approach to remove the roadside ditches and construct 5 foot-wide sidewalks by installing a storm sewer system. The intent of this project is to first conduct a comprehensive drainage analysis followed by a targeted environmental and geotechnical investigations within defined design and construction phases that the Precinct can fund through grant programs over several years.

Expected Impact:

The proposed project will guide the phased replacement of roadside ditches with a storm sewer system and the addition of 5 foot sidewalks, improving drainage and pedestrian safety. It will support grant funding efforts by providing detailed environmental, geotechnical, and drainage analysis, and will enable a cost-effective, multi-phase implementation plan aligned with available resources.

Alternative Options:

The alternative is not to proceed with the project or have one project that adds underground storm sewer and sidewalk for the entire neighborhood.
